Make the shifter stick out of iron or steel, I dunno. Personally I would go for the force feedback joystick way of doing the shifter.

Googling "h-shifter diy" produces quite a lot of different approaches to your problem.

Some GTR cars have ignition cut, but generally speaking you have to lift off the accelerator while shifting up. Works pretty much the same way as in real cars.

Broken or overheating video card. Does changing the resolution make any difference?

The graphics look amazing, but to me physics are more important. If they are even as good as in Forza 2, I might consider buying XBox360.

+1 for audio device selection.

It is possible to rout audio outside of LFS, so that every sound the computer produces is directed into a "pipe". Search for "virtual audio driver" or "virtual audio cable". I just tried something like this and it worked, sort of.

btw, aluminum is not magnetic, so it will not stick to a magnet

It will stay in gear if it is a force feedback -joystick. Google FFshifter. As for the clutch, any wheel with pedals will work. Just make sure you have a gameport if you get a older wheel with that kind of connector.

No, but my speakers emit sound that tells me the revs rise too high when shifting.

RWD GRT has a 4WD car.. maybe "big gtr" and "small gtr" would be better. what do you think?

A "drift car" so that drifters would finally shut up about it, and it would be easier to filter those servers out.
